Filed under: Inspiration,internet,Make A Difference,Music,News,Personal — chantal @ 10:06 am

(the 2nd installment of random things I come across…)

1) Most of you have probably seen this by now, but if you haven’t, take a moment to watch. Even the biggest skeptic can’t walk away from this without feeling inspired. I love what creative minds can do…

2) Fish Lips Paper Designs. This is so cool….gift wrap with beautiful and unique designs made from 100% Post-Consumer recycled paper. (found via Anna Kuperberg’s blog)

3) DIY Bride. This is GREAT resource for Brides who are planning their own wedding and want everything to be FABULOUS! Get creative, often inexpensive ideas on DIY Bride. There’s a forum that you’ll need to register for, but it’s FREE.

4) Jack Johnson – Sleep Through The Static – It released yesterday, and from what I’ve heard so far it’s AWESOME. It usually takes a while for a new album to grow on me, but I’m a big JJ fan, and this one definitely delivers.

5) BABIES!! It’s official, I have baby fever. With my last two photo shoots being all about the babies, I can’t help it! And no, I’m not going to go for #4 of my own, I want to shoot YOUR baby. So if you or anyone you know has a BABY give me a call or send me an email… I’m offering a limited time special package for BABY PHOTO SESSIONS. (email chantal@chantalstonephotography.com for details)

6) Avoid “The McWedding”. For Brides on a budget, this article is a MUST READ….in fact, the whole blog is awesome!

grrr…I was doing so well with daily posting. Oh well. I have some totally adorable photos to post from a newborn session. I shot part one yesterday, and finishing up part two this afternoon. I’ll share some of those either later tonight or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, check out one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite musicians. If photography had a ‘sound’, this would be it for me.

Just a few things:

1) I added some new photos to my website. Some have been posted here on the blog, and some are brand new, so if you have a minute, go check it out!

2) If you’re in Central Ohio and you’re looking for something fun to do this Holiday season, then Saturday you won’t want to miss the Westerville Holiday Spectacular! This is an INCREDIBLE production put on by Generations Performing Arts Center. Nevermind the fact that I could very well be totally biased since my daughter will be in the show, this is an amazing holiday event….think Radio City Music Hall but with kids! It’s fun for the entire family, I promise, you will be blown away by the talent! Showtimes are 11:30, 2:30 and 7:00 at Westerville Central High School. Leave a comment or email me if you’re interested in purchasing tickets.

3) There are 12 days left to enter my contest to have your 2008 wedding photographed for FREE. See details here. I’m expecting plenty of entries between now and the Dec. 15th deadline, so get your entry in soon! And if you know anyone planning a wedding in 2008, please tell them about the contest!

4) I had an awesome photo session with such a fun couple over the weekend… I’ll post a few pics in just a day or two!

5) I’ve been digging Ella Fitzgerald a lot lately… this one’s a classic, although the video is a little goofy.

‘Tis The Season…

The holiday season is officially here, even though it’s probably felt like it’s been here for the past month! I love this time of year, the Holidays, the decorations, the lights, the food, the music! And of course, I love Christmas for honoring the birth of our Saviour. Every time I hear “Oh Holy Night” sung by Celine Dion, I am brought to tears…..so amazing!!

Celine Dion-Oh Holy night

How many of you braved the crowds this past weekend to find that perfect gift at an amazing price? I love to shop, and I love the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, but the crowds of Thanksgiving weekend are a bit too much for me. I spent my weekend AT HOME, with my husband and kids, eating leftovers, watching movies, and battling the beginnings of a cold that I really, really hope doesn’t get the best of me! So far only my voice is losing this war, but the rest of me seems to be in tact 🙂

One thing that I’m really excited about this year is participating in the “‘Tis The Season Photoblog”, started by Justin Gaynor. It’s a collaborative photoblog by photographers from all different backgrounds and cultures, highlighting how we all celebrate the holidays, what this time of year means to us. Be sure to bookmark it and check it out daily, there will be a new entry every day. And make sure to check it on December 9th, that’s when I will be submitting!

Enjoy what’s left of your Sunday and have a great week everyone! I’ll be posting plenty of photos this week, including a great engagement session and AWESOME wedding from earlier this month. I’m so excited about these pictures, I can’t wait to share!!

October

“O suns and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour October’s bright blue weather.”

October

October and the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear.
What do I care?

October and kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
But you go on
And on.

I love that song by U2. And I love the month of October. It’s such a shame to me that my absolute favorite time of year is so incredibly short. Fall is 3 months long like any other season, but it’s only good for a few short weeks…the first month is still too hot, the last month, it already feels like winter. Once October ends, Autumn is just about over too. I can’t believe how quickly this month has passed. It seems like just yesterday the kids went back to school, and now we’re already making plans for Christmas.

Thankfully, it’s nice enough outside today to enjoy an outdoor photo shoot in the crisp fall air.

Listen to U2’s October here.
