chantal stone photography: the blog

About me

Hey Everyone….thanks for reading my blog!

I’m Chantal, a lifestyle and wedding photographer, and I live in Columbus, OH, USA with my wonderful husband and three fantastic children.

I am a photographer to my bones… has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Once when I was in high school, I hadn’t read all of Faust, required for an English class. My teacher sarcastically asked me what it was I planned to do with my life, and I told her, with conviction, that I was going to be a photographer. She made me write a short paper profiling 5 great women photographers. Feeling rather sure of myself, I left the fifth one blank….my teacher questioned why I hadn’t completed the assignment, and I told her it was because my story wasn’t finished yet!

I’m still working on that ending.

Not only a photographer-in-progress, I’m also a bona fide geek and I love to write. I have contributed to a number of awesome websites like, The Online Photographer, Blogcritics Magazine, The Landscapist, and All Things Girl.

This blog is a document of my progress. In addition to my ramblings and simple observations, you’ll also find some photos from recent events and weddings that I photograph, pictures of my kids and some other random shots I feel like sharing. I’ll even discuss some of the amazing photographers who inspire me daily. And if, after all of that, you’re still interested in seeing some more of my photos, take a minute to check out my photoblog, New Eyes, where I try to post a new photo daily!

Today I practically screamed out-loud, “what can I do to get rid of this !%$#@ self-doubt. I’m a good happy person who contributes a lot. I am blessed with wonderful living circumstances and good health abounds.

Yet I’m stymied and pressured. I’m hounded by fear, I suppose (but it’s getting really old). Your words in “conquering self doubt” provided me with the type of authentic writing that sliced right through to my heart where it can work its magic.

You do amazing work. Columbus (and the world) is lucky to have you.

(P.S. I used to live in the Victorian Village neighborhood in Columbus)
