The Last Blast of Winter (at least I hope!)

I’ve said this before, but I’m so sick of Winter. I love cold, snowy weather, but this year, I’m just ready for Spring! It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I have quite a few photo sessions on hold, while we wait for warmer weather. Also, I’m just tired of the salt on my car, I’m sick of bulky winter coats, and I really just want to pull out the flip flops!

But it’s just in me to make lemonade out of lemons, so when we had that big snow storm last weekend, I took full advantage of the fun that snow can bring, and took my kids sledding. It also helped that I sat in the warm car with a good book while the kids braved the wind and snow… but still I managed to snap a few photos before freezing my buns off!

My Attitude is GRATITUDE!

Pardon me for a moment, while I get slightly emotional …

My heart is so filled right now thinking of all of the blessings in my life. When I think about the things that I want, the goals I want to achieve, I can’t help but stop for a moment, look around me, and notice all of the wonderful things I already have!

I have the most incredible job in the world! People let me into their lives, allow me to witness very intimate and precious moments, I meet their friends, their families, and for a short time, I’m part of that family. I get to be creative, and have fun doing what I love. And people pay me to do this! I love being a photographer. Its’ the only thing I have ever wanted to do, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

I have the best husband and children in the world. They make me happier beyond belief and I owe everything I am to them. My husband has been my biggest support and my #1 fan from the beginning. He owns my heart and knows my soul like no other. Every day that I get to be by his side is heaven on earth. And my children— words can not describe how they make me feel. I never knew love like this was possible. They inspire me, they motivate me, they energize me.

My clients! I can’t forget to mention the amazing people I get to work with. They aren’t just clients. They quickly become good friends and I appreciate so much that they trust me enough to let me in like they do.

And my friends are so great too…both the old ones whom I love like flesh & blood, and the new ones whom I can not wait to get to know better!  This afternoon I had the privilege of having lunch with 5 really amazing photographers.  They are all such great people— funny, smart, creative….and such great inspiration to me.  I love the community of photographers that is growing here in Columbus…that nurtures and educates and shares with each other.  It’s something that I have felt was lacking here in Central Ohio and I’m so glad to be part of it!

Do you ever feel so loved, you feel like you will explode?  It’s a great feeling.  And I’m thankful for this amazing life and the fabulous people in it!

Meet the Tribbies!

I’d like to introduce Jennifer and Tim!
They are the wonderful couple who are now the subjects of my new project documenting their first pregnancy. For the next 7 months, or so, I will be visiting Jennifer and Tim, photographing Jennifer’s growing belly, and tagging along for some really special events in their young family’s life. I am so grateful that they are allowing me into their lives like this. And you get to follow along too!

And here is Baby Tribbie! Just a peanut right now, at only 10 weeks! The tiny baby is probably just about 1.25 inches right now, and about the weight of 4 paper clips…

I can’t wait to see how Jennifer’s belly grows over the next 4 weeks!

Just Precious

It’s been a while since Cherie has made an appearance on the blog. This photo was taken last month just before her dance pictures. She hated having her hair put in a bun, which by the way was the largest bun ever recorded in modern human history. She has enough hair for 5 people, I swear I’m not exaggerating. And its LONG…like down to her rear-end long. And just to add insult to injury, she absolutely hates to have her hair combed. She LOATHES it. Needless to say, she often rocks the fresh-out-of-bed look, which is so popular these days, often enhanced by a sparkley head band or butterfly hair clips.

There are alot of pregnant ladies in Columbus, Ohio!

Wow, the response has been HUGE to my call for a pregnant woman to volunteer herself for a photo project that I have planned. I thought maybe 2 or 3 people might respond, but we’re talking HUGE numbers here! Thanks so much to everyone who passed along my information to their friends, and I have to especially thank my dear friend JAN who is amazing at spreading the word!

Okay, so the fact remains that all of the ladies who responded to my project are incredible and I wish I could choose them all, but I’m afraid that I can only choose one.  But I’m so excited about the young woman who will be my subject!  She is absolutely adorable, but little does she know, that by accepting my offer, she has inadvertently volunteered to be my new best friend, and she and her hubby are now stuck with me for the next 8-9 months!!

Stay tuned…  hopefully we can start shooting soon, and you’ll get to meet the beautiful mom-to-be who will be my subject!!
